THEME CAMPS

Day Camp for Littles

Ages: 2-8

June 3rd-7th *(June 10th-14th FULL) *June 17th-21st

(July 8th-12th FULL) *(July 15th-19th FULL) *July 22nd-26th

August 12th-15th *August 19th-22nd

Cost: $280 for 9-1;00; $10 per hour for 1-3pm/aftercare

Mountain View Play School is happy to offer day camp sessions on the AATA campus.

During our time together we will journey through our weekly themes with songs, stories, games, and crafts. We will immerse ourselves in the unfolding of Summer in the Appalachians and lean into the essence of

childhood magic.

Lead by Shelby Medley, your child will experience traditional songs, folklore, dances, and crafts born from these very hills. We will invite fellow musicians to share their music, keepers of the land to share their stories, and truly absorb everything that this season has to offer.

SPECIALTY CAMP for Littles

Ages: 3-5

(June 24TH-27TH -- FULL)

August 5th-8th

Cost: $250; 9:00-1:30

This is a small limited camp for up to 5 children. Enjoy a Waldorf-style rhythm focused on the natural world and the micro-seasons within Summer in the Appalachians. Will include creek time, farm animals, crafts, fort making, wild foraging & early fire making safety & skills. Lead by Forest Floor & AATA Teen Trained Facilitators.

Dates: June 10-14, 9am-3pm

Cost: $350

Embark on an enchanted journey where children delve into the captivating world of forest  adventure. Immersed in the wonders of nature they will explore the mystical realms through engaging activities, forest lore, and thrilling scavenger hunts. It will be a time where myths and legends come to life through foraging and building natural structures, creating an unforgettable and magical experience for every child. An experience filled with discovery, laughter, woodland creatures and lasting memories in the heart of the North Carolina Mountains.

Midsummer Night’s Dream

Theater Camp 

Ages: 10-16

Dates: July 22-26, 9am-3pm

Cost: $400

Embark on an enchanting adventure at the Midsummer Night's Dream Theater Day Camp, specially designed for students ages 10-16 who are stepping into the magical world of theater for the first time! Nestled in the heart of the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, this week-long immersive camp invites young enthusiasts to discover the joy of acting, prop-making, and costume creation.

Throughout the week, friendly and experienced theater instructors will guide campers through a fun and interactive exploration of a magical snippet of Midsummer Night's Dream. From learning the ropes of acting to crafting their own props and costumes, every day is filled with laughter, creativity, and new friendships.

 

The highlight of the camp is the outdoor performance on the last day, where families and friends are invited to witness the budding actors as they bring Shakespeare's timeless tale to life against the backdrop of nature's beauty. 

No previous theater experience is required—all materials and guidance are provided, making it the perfect opportunity for young minds to unleash their creativity and discover the joy of theater in a supportive and welcoming environment. Join us for a week of theatrical fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories at the Midsummer Night's Dream Theater Day Camp!

Nature Walk and

Ages: 11-15

Dates: August 19th - 23rd, 9am-3pm

Cost: $350

Start every morning with a peaceful walk in nature. Fully immersed in the beauty of the sights, the familiarity of the smells, and sweet sounds of nature. Each day a different spot to relax, take in our surroundings and become one with nature. Let pen meet paper. Watch as magic flows and your inner poet emerges. Journals and writing materials provided.

HORSE CAMPS

Flight of the Butterfly Weekend Backpacking Adventure

Ages: 8-13 girls Only

Dates: June 20-23 (Thursday morning - Sunday Afternoon)

Welcome to the Flight of the Butterfly Summer Camp, a thrilling backpacking adventure designed for girls ages 8-13, nestled in the breathtaking wilderness of Western North Carolina. This immersive experience goes beyond survival basics, offering a transformative journey that encompasses teamwork, communication, and self-discovery against the backdrop of nature's wonders.

As participants arrive at our scenic base camp, they will be introduced to the art of backpacking by seasoned guides. The camp focuses on empowering young girls with essential outdoor skills, from setting up a campsite to navigating through the lush, untamed landscapes of the region. Learning survival basics becomes a stepping stone for a weekend filled with adventure, growth, and camaraderie.

The Flight of the Butterfly Camp places a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication. Through a series of exhilarating challenges and team-building activities, girls will forge strong bonds with their fellow campers. Together, they will navigate pristine trails, cross crystal-clear streams, and conquer the peaks that dot the Western North Carolina wilderness.

Amidst the rustling leaves and the calls of native birds, the camp encourages moments of self-discovery. Guided reflection sessions, paired with the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural surroundings, create an environment where girls can explore their strengths, build resilience, and deepen their understanding of themselves.

Throughout the week, campers will immerse themselves in the world of natural horsemanship, a technique that prioritizes clear communication over dominance. Guided by skilled instructors, participants will learn the subtle language of horses, gaining insights into their behavior, psychology and unique personalities.

The camp curriculum is designed to instill a holistic understanding of horse care, handling, and riding. Through ground exercises, participants will develop essential communication skills, honing their ability to convey intentions and requests to their equine partners with clarity and empathy. As trust deepens, campers will progress to riding activities, where they'll experience the joy of harmonious partnership with their horses.

Set against the backdrop of  picturesque mountains, the Natural Horsemanship Summer Camp provides a serene and natural environment for both campers and horses. Mornings begin with gentle grooming and bonding sessions, fostering a sense of connection and camaraderie. Literature Based Interactive Horse Camp
