The Importance of Therapeutics!

We're redefining Therapeutics!

The philosophy that founded AATA is rooted in the world of Therapeutics Arts. The founders and current administration bring a rich background of therapeutic based wisdom and training to the pedagogy of AATA. This includes Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Shadow Alchemy, Bioenergetic Healing, and Trauma Resolution Work.  Additionally, we employ a preventative model, implementing superfood nutrition, bioenergetics, harmonic integration, sovereign birth support and more!

A week in the life of AATA for a child will encompass many different modalities from our skilled instructors. The days begin with Tai Chi, our Equine Staff offer natural horsemanship to guide the children through nervous system regulation, and our theater is used to unravel trauma, conflict and uncertainty. Individual sessions and modalities of support are offered to children/families in need.

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing.

Human beings have an innate ability to overcome the effects of diverse traumas. The SE™ approach facilitates the completion of self-protective motoric responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body and nervous system, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions, building their capacity for containment and resilience.

"Drama therapy is a form of mental healthcare that uses theater techniques to improve the mind-body connection, encourage emotional growth, and provide symptom relief. When drama therapy is used with kids, storytelling, imaginative play, props such as dolls and puppets, as well as theater techniques like improvisation and performance help children to explore their feelings, connect with others, and problem-solve difficult situations."

"Although the shadow is an innate part of the human being, the vast majority of us are willfully blind regarding its existence. We hide our negative qualities, not only from others but from ourselves. To do this we often criticize and condemn others to ensure our focus does not fall on our own faults and destructive tendencies. We go through life with a false air of moral superiority and a belief that while others act immorally and destructively, we ourselves are wholly virtuous and always in the right."

Practicing Tai Chi on the Beach

Tai Chi can improve a child’s self-esteem, confidence, and physical strength. As a martial art, Tai Chi also teaches children discipline, a sense of inner calm, and appropriate social skills. Tai Chi can be particularly helpful to children with ADHD, anxiety, and physical disabilities.

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
